Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

Soft, fluffy garlic biscuits made with Greek yogurt for moisture, tenderness, and a little protein boost. These come together quickly without yeast and bake up cheesy, savory, and golden. Perfect as a side dish, breakfast biscuit, or served with soups and comfort meals.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or gf 1:1
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella or blend
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or oil
  • Optional Garlic Butter Topping
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • Minced garlic or garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Method
 

Preheat oven
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Add cheese
  3. Stir in most of the shredded cheese, reserving a small amount for topping.
  4. Add wet ingredients
  5. Stir in yogurt and melted butter until just combined. Do not overmix.
Shape biscuits
  1. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface. Gently pat to about 1-inch thickness.
  2. Cut into 10 biscuits or drop spoonfuls onto baking sheet.
Top and bake
  1. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  2. Bake 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden.
Optional finish
  1. Melt butter in a small pot with garlic and Italian Seasoning. Brush with garlic butter while hot.

Notes

Cooking Notes

  • Do not overmix dough or biscuits will become dense
  • Dough should be slightly sticky but workable
  • Cold yogurt helps biscuits rise better
  • These reheat well in the oven or air fryer
  • Store leftovers refrigerated up to 3 days
