Ingredients

Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp flour optional for thickening
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup bone broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper
Topping
  • 3 lb potatoes
  • 1/4 cup ghee or grass-fed butter
  • 1/2 cup milk or unsweetened almond milk
  • Salt and pepper

Method

Make the mashed topping:
  1. Boil potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with ghee or butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
Brown the meat:
  1. Set the Magnifique multi-cooker to sauté. Add ground beef or turkey and cook 6–8 minutes, breaking it up as it browns. Drain excess fat if needed.
Build the filling:
  1. Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well. Cook 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Create the gravy:
  1. Stir in tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  2. Add peas, bone broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes until thickened into a rich gravy.
Assemble:
  1. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat mixture.
Bake:
  1. Transfer the claypot to a 400°F oven. Bake 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
  2. Optional: Broil 2–3 minutes at the end for extra browning.
Rest and serve:
  1. Let rest 5 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.

Notes

Cooking Notes

  • Don’t skip the flour step unless it is an irritant-it helps to make a thicker filling
  • Letting it rest before serving makes it easier to scoop clean portions
  • This reheats well and tastes even better the next day

This recipe is made in the Magnifique multi-cooker with a non-toxic kaolin clay insert. The clay pot heats evenly, locks in moisture, and helps flavors develop as it cooks, then goes straight into the oven for finishing. The removable clay insert also makes cleanup easy.
